Encourage Your Employees to Communicate

Sending a quick email or message to a coworker might seem like the best way to get an answer.

But the back and forth can sometimes take longer than it would if they asked over the phone or on Skype.

Ask your team to make use of online communication tools. When possible, suggest they have a conversation to solve a problem.

Try to Cut Back on Interruptions

In the mornings, you might have various meetings scheduled. If you find it challenging to complete tasks efficiently, remove some interruptions.

Schedule many meetings in one day. Don’t scatter meetings throughout the week. Block out time to work on tasks. Blocking out time for uninterrupted work will help your team focus.

Technology can cause interruptions. Chat message pop-ups, email alerts, and notifications from your in-house staff can break your focus.

Put your phone on silent and close your email while you work on specific tasks. This way, you can focus for a particular chunk of time.

After, check your message or email for any critical messages or calls.

Hold Short Meetings

Instead of long meetings, try to cover the most critical points in 10 minutes. Some companies will begin their day in a short meeting.

For 10 minutes, they’ll update everyone on projects. Keep your team updated with new developments, but also streamline the meeting. You won’t waste as much time.

Try Not to Multitask

People tend to have a bunch of different browsers open at once. Most people think they can multitask well. Multitasking can result in being less productive.

Instead, try to focus on one task until you complete it before moving on to something new.

Single-tasking lets you get more done on a project. You might feel productive when you have a bunch of unfinished projects on the go.

Focus on one project instead of chipping away at a bunch of different ones. You want to finish the tasks on time.

Cut Back on Unscheduled Meetings

Bosses tend to lose a lot of time during their day because employees pop in and ask for a quick meeting.
Sometimes, these short meetings turn into something much longer. Try to schedule quick appointments with a specific time frame.

Stick to the topic you and your employee need to discuss. Ensure you have a specific goal in mind for the meeting so you don’t waste time.

Provide Your Team With the Proper Tools

Some owners don’t provide employees with the tools and skills they need to complete their jobs.
Consider getting project management software for your team. Try to provide new training for your current accountant.

Boost Your Team’s Morale

Your employees won’t work well if they are unhappy. Create a respectful, safe, and welcoming environment.
You can boost company morale by providing a free company luncheon or healthy snacks at the office.

Delegate Specific Tasks

As an owner of a business, you need to be careful not to do everything on your own. Instead, you’ll want to delegate tasks.

Your employees are there to work for you and hold specific roles in the company.

Help them do the best job possible by making it clear what their tasks are each day. Show them how to complete the tasks if they need help.

Work Hard to Build Trust

Building trust in your workplace can help boost your team’s productivity. Trust that your employees can do their job well. You don’t want to micromanage them.

Instead, make sure they feel valued. This way, they can feel free to complete their work. Be transparent and honest with your team.

Don’t Forget to Set Goals

Create goals to improve workplace efficiency. Think about how long it will take for you to complete the objective.
You’ll also want to think about what resources you’ll need to complete the goals.

There are a lot of steps between goals. Make sure you keep your end goal in mind but take time to complete the steps in between.

Provide Feedback

You won’t increase employee efficiency if they are unsure of what they’re doing wrong.

Performance reviews are critical for any business. A performance review will measure an employee’s performance. You will hold a meeting with the individual and share what they excel at and where they need to improve.

You also want your team to feel they can share what areas you can improve. An employee might ask for more guidance. Another employee might prefer more space.

Ask for feedback from your team throughout the year. This way, you will end up boosting the culture of open dialogue.
